3lite Software GmbH is a software house on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, with two focus areas: business process automation and the operation of its own membership platforms with user accounts, recurring billing, and large-scale content delivery. The oldest platform has been running since 2006 and is older than the GmbH itself: incorporated in 2012, it took over an operation already running. Never interrupted.

Operations, for us, means our own hardware in data centers in Berlin and the Netherlands, our own network with our own IP address space, and payment processing as part of the daily routine. If you have kept a platform running for twenty years, you have already made most of the mistakes. And fixed them.

We are deliberately small: a few experts, well attuned to one another. AI multiplies their capacity many times over: agents develop alongside us, tools improve out of our own operations, feedback loops keep writing code forward. What a house this size could not shoulder in the past is daily business today.

Owner and managing director is Thomas Schuchhardt. He has been writing software since the days of the C64 and has been running internet platforms since 2006.

Processes that repeat become software here. Built for workflows where mistakes cost money: invoices, payments, documents, deadlines. First in our own operation, increasingly for selected partners.

Artificial intelligence, in this house, means: nothing to fear. The models run on our own premises, the data stays there, nothing drifts into third-party clouds. This is how AI products come about, designed for GDPR-compliant operation: processing on our own hardware in Berlin and Amsterdam, with no third-country transfer.

The caution many feel toward this technology is justified. Which is exactly why it belongs in controlled environments: in our house or in yours, on your own hardware. Then there is no need to fear the machine.

Under the hood: classification of unstructured data, anomaly detection in payment and access streams, data pipelines across petabyte-scale holdings. What belongs together is held as a graph: invoices to payments, transactions to accounts, linked along the time axis. Language models read, pre-sort and query. On our own hardware.

One example, start to finish: the invoice. This is how it moves through the house, every day, on our own books.

3. 03VerifyChecked against master data, history and account movements. Duplicates and forgeries stand out.
4. 04MatchPayment and document find each other: the closest free invoice in time wins, amount alone is never enough.
5. 05ExceptionWhatever is not unambiguous goes to a human. No guessing.
6. 06ResultThe monthly close is ready: every payment with its document, every gap named. Sign-off stays manual, by design.

This is not a demo and not a pilot project. This system keeps our own books: software that reads invoices, matches payments and prepares the monthly close. It came about because we needed it ourselves. What proves itself becomes more. Nothing is promised beforehand.

The building blocks behind it are our own libraries, written in-house: e-invoicing per XRechnung and ZUGFeRD, bank connectivity via FinTS, DATEV export for the tax accountant, document storage with a hash-chain audit trail, designed for GoBD. No third-party code in the critical spots.

Alongside the daily business, the house conducts applied research on the collaboration of humans and AI systems. Not in a lab, but in the field: on our own operations, in permanent trial, with real stakes.

Results flow straight back into operations and tooling. Publication, if at all, comes late.

Whoever runs platforms with payment traffic works in security every single day: payment fraud prevention, abuse detection, hardening of one’s own systems. For twenty years, on our own hardware.

This is also why our AI models run in-house: what we process does not leave our premises. As a rule, we do not talk about partners or projects. Encryption, access, backups, retention: we lay the technical and organizational measures open in conversation.
